Who will be the three Decelera-Schneider ‘startup heroes’?

partnership, green energy, sustanibility
Sylvain Paineau, EMEA Business Incubation Director of Schneider Electric and Isabel Mayor, partner and institutions manager of Decelera.

There are just eight weeks left to start Decelera Menorca 2019!! We are pretty excited about it and we are working hard to evaluate the almost 494 startups, that applied to participate in the program, and select the top twenty-five that will attend to the program. The list will be announced at the beginning of May.

We are in the middle of the evaluation process. But we are not alone. Our strategic partner Schneider Electric – leader in Power Management and in Automation Systems– is also involved in the evaluation process. As they did last edition, Schneider Electric has committed to sponsor three of the twenty-five innovative startups that will decelerate for two weeks in Menorca, and are working with us to scout the best projects in sectors like IoT, Sustainability and Climate Change. One third of applications are linked to these areas.

The large company –with more than 160.000 people– is committed to innovation, diversity and sustainability. Their Innovation at the Edge program takes bold ideas from inside and outside the company to create new business models and products.

After the good experience he had last year, Sylvain Paineau has announced he will come to Decelera Menorca 2019 with part of his team for the second time! The program surprised him last year as he said in an interview: “I have been in innovation for 10 years and it was the first time I heard about a decelerator program. It is important for our team to start a discussion and continue it for a couple of days. That is a way to create contact with the startup”.

This partnership is part of the Schneider Electric Venture team mandate to work with startups, employees, early-stage companies, incubators and joint ventures to turn bold ideas into reality.

Most of the startups that have applied affirmed their projects are aligned with one of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, the number nine that is focused on industry, innovation and infrastructure. There is a group of them –14%– than aim to get sustainable cities and communities and have affordable and clean energy.

The final announcement of the 25 top startups is getting closer and, as Marcos Martín, co-founder and CEO of Decelera, says “the quality of the startups that have applied this year has evolved favorably with respect to previous years. We are very satisfied. We believe this change is due to our commitment to strengthen and develop the first program that cares about the teams and the human factor in the ecosystem, and our brand repositioning with Decelera”.
